Please Stand By

I chose this photo because it is the epitome of representation of a theme, era, and aesthetic that I have always adored: 1950's Americana. I think that this is simultaneously a representation and a contrast of my personality and my values. The 1950's were a prosperous postwar time period in which hard work and innovation were celebrated, rather than resisted as they are today. However, ever the realist, I also acknowledge that there was a plethora of societal problems that were prevalent during this period. 

This photo represents the values of both myself and the era in which the photo was created: Striving to be the best one can possibly be, but also being realistic enough to realize one's own limits.
